The red Xbox 360 controller is a broken pile of garbage

I bought myself a red Xbox 360 controller because I needed a new one (I crush the analog stick on those things; this was my fifth controller since getting on the Xbox 360 train back at launch) and I took advantage of Circuit City going out of business (this was like 2 months ago or something), so I was able to nab it kind of cheap. Well, I got about a week out of it before it started acting up. Button input would not translate to the corresponding action in any game, and the right trigger, bumper, and the Y button all started to stick for some reason. Now the right bumper doesn't even work. I've taken this thing apart, used alcohol with cotton swabs, even warm, soapy water, and I've got nothing to show for it.

Well, to make things even worse, before this happened to my controller, my friend Josh was hanging out and saw the new controller and liked it. With his birthday like two weeks away, I got one for him since he hasn't switched a controller out since he got his Xbox and, well ... his controllers are a pile of dirty plastic. Sure enough, after a few weeks, his right analog stick started to make noises and, even odder, his plug on the bottom of the controller doesn't work anymore. The plug for the microphone, yeah, it's not recognizing ANY microphone. So basically he can never play anything online, unless he's willing to not talk to people.

Has anyone else gotten one of these controllers? Had any issues?
