Video: Phil Allen is my hero
Phil Allen is a Philadelphia sports fan. He's kinda known in Philly circles and one of the most passionate fans around. Recently, I was chatting with James (co-worker over at Joystiq) about E-A-G-L-E-S: The Movie and I realized I didn't have it! So I rectified that and uploaded the above segment (my favorite portion of the film) for all of the internet to enjoy.
It's no secret that Philly hates Dallas -- the Eagles-Giants rivalry is way older but, as a kid who grew up in the '90s, I grew up hating Dallas. And the above video is the best explanation for how the city of Dallas was founded. Ever.
"I don't make friends with Cowboys fans. I wouldn't even make a baby with a Cowboys fan. Please." Awesome.
I’ll Be A Guest On The Incredible Podcast Of Amazing Awesomeness This Sunday
I'm pretty new to this whole podcasting thing, but I think I've been very clear about my love for it. Even though it's a fresh medium for me to express myself, others have been rocking the mic and doing a great job at it. One such duo consists of Mike Schramm and The Turpster -- I was told that trying to find out the legal name of the latter would only result in physical pain, so I let sleeping dogs lie -- who produce The Incredible Podcast of Amazing Awesomeness.
It's a great show and I'm really pumped to go all Chatty Cathy on it. I'll be on their show this Sunday, 1pm PST (4pm ET) for the live chatting -- a first for me in podcasting. I'm pretty scared about that part, but I'm doing it anyway!
For all of the pertinent details (get down on this, guys!), you only need hit up this convenient link right here.
Phillies lose to Yankees 4-2 in 2009 World Series
Well, that sucked. The Phillies succumbed to a very unlikeable and, in my opinion, far-less talented Yankees team in the 2009 World Series. If you ask me, the turning point was that 2-game home stand. There the momentum really shifted away from the Phils.
Now I get to watch replays of these over-payed jerkwads celebrating on ESPN for the next 3 days. Fun!
Phillies clinch NL East
Last night, the Phillies managed to clinch the NL East. They put the Astros down for bed in a 10 - 3 upset. There's plenty of coverage around the net, but I'd suggest checking out The Fightins for the good stuff. Above, you can see a screen grab of the team saluting fallen announcer Harry Kalas.
Shawn Andrews continues his descent into madness
Okay, so when I posted the entry right below this one, I was dead serious when I said Shawn Andrews is insane. He's put up another video tonight that, well, it's like the most beautiful train wreck one could ever imagine. It's like that train is made of chocolate and full of chewy gingerbread men and has derailed into a pile of rainbows.
But, in all seriousness, the rap alone is lawlworthy, but the rambling madness that comes afterward is something to really behold. I think this is what the internet was invented for. That and kitten videos.

Shawn Andrews gets his Michael Phelps on, loses mind in process
If you think Michael Vick signing with the Eagles is the biggest story of this season, you're dead wrong. It should be Shawn Andrews and his coining of a phrase that will forever be trapped in my lexicon: Getting my Michael Phelps on. It's the subject of his latest YouTube video and the inspiration for some beat-filled nonsense he's decided to spew out onto the internets. I'm not sure what "getting my Michael Phelps on" means, but, at this point, I'm pretty sure it would only ruin the fun.
In the process of putting his video out there, he reveals a few things about himself:
- He's absolutely insane
- His home decor knowledge is limited to Spongebob Squarepants and black wall paint
- He's absolutely insane
- He wants to be Blade, the vampire hunter
- He's absolutely insane
It's okay, Shawn. Thanks for sharing. That's what the internet's for!

Use Stairs in case of emergency

Today is one of those days where it just sucks to be fat, because about the most awesome shirt you could ever wear is available for purchase. If you don't get it, you're probably not a Phillies/Baseball fan. It's okay, you can still get in on the fun here.
Harry Kalas, voice of the Philadelphia Phillies, passes away at 73
If you're a fan of Philadelphia sports, then you know Harry Kalas. He's been the voice of the Philadelphia Phillies for many, many years, and today he passed away in Washington, D.C., following a collapse in his press box at Nationals Stadium. He was then rushed to George Washington University Medial Center, where he passed away shortly afterward. The exact cause of the collapse is not yet known.
I just don't know what to say, really. I'm utterly shocked.
