Harry Kalas, voice of the Philadelphia Phillies, passes away at 73

If you're a fan of Philadelphia sports, then you know Harry Kalas. He's been the voice of the Philadelphia Phillies for many, many years, and today he passed away in Washington, D.C., following a collapse in his press box at Nationals Stadium. He was then rushed to George Washington University Medial Center, where he passed away shortly afterward. The exact cause of the collapse is not yet known.

I just don't know what to say, really. I'm utterly shocked.

My weekend at New York Rally in Walton, NY

So my friend Josh dragged me up to the Rally races this weekend, in lovely Walton, NY.  It wasn't what I expected (it was better than I thought it would be, actually) and I was surprised to see so many people there. It was snowing, super cold, and all kinds of soggy, but still, fans were there in lawn chairs and going bananas. It was overall a really fun time! Check out the video I made above.

Phillies win 2008 World Series

Oh man, you have no idea how great it is to write this. It was even better watching it happen. Not since 1980 have the Phillies come home with a world title. This year, they did it. What a deep bullpen, what bats and, as seen in the final moments of Game 5, what an amazing Brad Lidge.

It’s in: Phillies taking on the Rays

So the Rays won last night, 3-1 over Boston, winning the ALCS. I'm not sure which team would've been better going up against the Phillies (TJ made a good point about the Sox being complacent as they've won the title already, multiple times), but it doesn't matter. It's time for Philly to get one. It's about time we bring a trophy back to the city with the greatest and most loyal fans in the world.

Go Phillies!

Phils flatten Dodgers, head to the World Series

It's been 15 years since the Phillies have been to the World Series. They're the losingest franchise in sports history and after cleaning up the Dodgers in 5 games, are going to face the best of the AL next week in the World Series. What a time to be alive!

Today may be the most important day ever

Seriously, there's something going on tonight that could shake the very Earth we live on. If there's one thing I absolutely hate with all of my being, it's the Dallas Cowboys. I hate everything about them: their players, that mummified corpse Jerry Jones, and, most importantly, their fans. America's team? Give me a friggin' break.

Tonight is Monday Night Football, where the Eagles will be taking on the Cowboys. Their last match-up had the Eagles winning 10-6 and following last week's game, everyone here is pumped to see the Eagles come out throwing the ball well. We don't have to worry about a good running game. We've got Brian Westbrook.

So, basically, if you ever talk to me on these internets, don't expect me to be around between 8pm and midnight ET tonight. I've already got some beers, and a lot of delicious finger foods. Man, I'm pumped! And with the Phillies sweeping the Brewers and the Mets choking like the Mets always do, I'm finally feeling like being a Philadelphia sports fan isn't the most painful thing on the planet. Awesome!

But, alas, we must focus on tonight. What do you say? E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!

One down, three to go

The Phils put the screws to the Brewers last night, in their first game of a four-game series. This is pretty important, because we're 3 games back from the Brewers in the Wildcard race, meaning we can tie with them if we sweep this series. With them playing in such a slump lately and the Phils on a hot trend (Ryan Howard hitting is big time), I'm confident they can whip out the broom.

Game two starts tonight at 7:05PM ET tonight.

Up yours, Mother Nature

Mike Gemme is coming down from his hideout up on top of the Green Monster this weekend, and me, TJ, him and Bob were all supposed to go to Shea stadium for the Phillies vs Mets game. But, guess what? Damn tropical storm is supposed to come through and dump rain all over NYC from tonight, on through Sunday. Effing lame. Hopefully it won't go down like that.
