David Hinkle doing stand-up comedy

I love comedy. I love to laugh. My entire life, I've been making people laugh. In high school, I was class clown. When I was younger, it was the same thing.

Ethan Mars Gets Crunk With the Kids

I wanted to do something cool for my 2,000th Tweet -- the jury is still out on that, but, hey, it's an hour of work you got out of me. In the high stakes world of ridiculous internet videos, I hope that sixty minutes will at least equate to one individual's enjoyment. If I've succeeded there, then I can feel good about this three minute long attempt at humor.

I'm going insane, aren't I?

Gay Robot: The show that never was

Here's the thing: Nick Swardson is a comedic genius. He really is, and if you don't believe me, then die in a fire. Or, you could just YouTube some of his stuff. Whichever you prefer.

ANYWHO, Nick pitched a show idea to Comedy Central some time back called Gay Robot. As one would imagine, it follows the exploits of a homosexual robot, however this one would be at college. Some of the clips are on YouTube and, uh, have been for quite some time, but it's new to me, and thus this blog post. You can watch the one clip above, but for the rest, you'll need to navigate past the break. Just keep an eye out for the polar bears that managed to claim the lives of four Lithuanians earlier today. The clips are well worth the risk, though, I assure you.

On a stand-up kick lately

nickswardsonteddy

I've been listening to a lot of stand-up comedy lately, mainly as background noise for when I'm working. I talk to other people in my profession and they say they need silence to concentrate and can't even write with the TV on, but, man, I hate silence. Why put up with silence when you can listen to music? Or the TV?  Or in my case, stand-up comedy?

So, some of the great acts I've been spinning in my harddrive while writing have been:

Any suggestions for me?

Ricky Gervais is kind of a snob

So I've watched the Ricky Gervais stand-up special and, wow, Ricky Gervais is a stuck up dude. The special opens with about 10 minutes of an announcer praising Ricky Gervais for all of his achievements, then he procedes to sit there and stroke his own ego for another 10 when he finally emerges onto the stage. Don't get me wrong, the guy is talented and funny, and the show was overall good, it's just ... uh, you don't need to be so smug about the whole thing. I mean, look at the king outfit? Like, seriously, dude? Are you the king of England? And is having the most downloaded video on the internet of all time that big of an accomplishment?

Sarah Palin is Head of Skate

Oh man, this one is good. Home slice Phil was asking me about my gamertag pic and if I'm a serious McCain supporter (I'm not, but your boy Obama can suck it, too), and he linked up this pretty funny video above. Apparently, Matt Damon said something about Sarah Palin running for VP during some interview to the effect of it being a bad Disney movie. I wonder how much he made off the millions and millions of people who saw Stuck on You in the theaters and bought copies of Brothers Grimm on DVD? Having an internet blog is fun!

Anywho, the video is pretty funny, complete with a ridiculous dance number at the end and that lovely *vrrrrrp* sound that happens when you scratch a record. You know, like in a trailer for a Rob Schneider movie.
