Gears of War 2 ‘Dark Corners’ features for Joystiq

dommarcusroadtoruinrev580

I did a pair of features for Joystiq on Gears of War 2's 'Dark Corners' DLC, which is set to drop on Xbox Live next week. There's a review of Road to Ruin -- a deleted scene from the campaign -- and a video tour of the new multiplayer maps. Check 'em out!

E3 2009: Score 1 for swine flu

e3logodp

I may be overreacting (Probably. Definitely.), but I did get pretty sick (so far, I've been sick for exactly 1 week) during the week of E3. Despite that, I still managed to kick ass and wrote more posts than everyone else at Joystiq. They may have been Nyquil-fueled and incredibly, uh, crazy, but a post is a post, dammit. In your faces, talented coworkers of mine!

If you need to catch up on anything, follow this handy link. Oh, and before you ask, yes, Scribblenauts is the real deal. Promise.

So, this E3 2009 business …

e3convention

You may have noticed a severe lack in content here lately, and it's mostly due to E3 stuff. The show is returning to form this year, and Joystiq has been kicking ass in planning what we're all going to see, and cover, at this year's show. I'm pretty busy with that because, uh, it's my job, so you're likely to see my personal site here take a backseat for a short period.

I'm going to try and get things up here as I can (I'd like to do daily recaps from my own perspective, and not just links to stuff I wrote on Joystiq, but we'll see how that pans out), but don't expect a lot over the next 2 or 3 weeks. I suggest you instead follow me on Twitter (@DaveHinkle), as I'll be on there like crazy during the show.

Punch-Out!! review for Joystiq

punch-out-review-0518I wrote a review for the new Punch-Out!! on Wii, which you can read right here. It even includes a video I put together, showing me take on Piston Hondo (yeah, I know, the change is dumb), Aran Ryan, and Soda Popinski. In short: It's fun, but the same old Punch-Out!! you've been playing your whole life.

Excitebots: Trick Racing review for Joystiq

excitebots30309

Here I am with another review, this time for the Wii's Excitebots: Trick Racing. My review features a nice video to go along with all of that boring text, so check it out and tell me what you think.

Joystiq interview with Halfbrick Studios

halfbricklogoshadow_580dph

I recently concluded a fairly lengthy interview with Brisbane, Australia development studio Halfbrick over at Joystiq. An old colleague of mine, Phil Larsen, is involved with the company's marketing and hooked up our little exchange. If you're interested in XNA, cute XBLA games (Raskulls, I'm looking at you!), or interviews in general, then check it out.

Godfather II review for Joystiq

godfather2reviewdp

I reviewed EA's Godfather II for Joystiq today. It just went live a little bit ago, so check out the changes EA implemented into the second game by giving it a read. It's surprising how much they improved the first game, which was pretty fun.

PS2 bundles for under $200

ps2_silver_pkg-setup2580

Over at Joystiq, we whipped out a fun little feature today that provides some ideas for bundles given the new PS2 price. Targeting specific individuals, we had $200 fictitious dollars to create bundles that costed under $200 real dollars. I wrote three of the seven bundles in total (The enemy, the tween, and the girlfriend). Check out the main hub page here to read them all.
