Pure White Lover Bizarre Jelly 5 makes me feel very, very awkward

Wow. I mean, I know Suda51 is out there and the first half-hour or so of No More Heroes 2 was crammed with plenty of tit shots, but this is just... wow. I'm dumbstruck. It seems like it's hentai for pedophiles. Seriously, what the funk?!

At least the Pure White Lover Bizarre Jelly 5 shmup is fun.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii review for Joystiq

nsmbwrevdpMy latest review for the best gaming blog around just went live. Here's an excerpt of my thoughts on New Super Mario Bros. Wii:

New Super Mario Bros. Wii isn't a game for you to play by yourself. Sure, you could, but it's just not going to be the best way to extract all of the fun the experience has to offer. Instead, you really should try to corral some friends together for multiplayer, which is guaranteed to do one of two things: strengthen the bonds you and your three partners in platforming have established, or take those friendships you've worked so hard on over an indeterminate amount of time and stomp them like a lost, lonely Goomba.

Head on over to Joystiq to read the full thing.

Quick ‘n Dirty Review: Scribblenauts (DS)

qndscrib535Scribblenauts emerged from E3 with about as much hype as a non-Modern Warfare 2 game could possibly accrue. Now that it's finally in the hands of gamers, it seems some of that hype isn't really justified  -- personally, I think people are taking this all the wrong way. The game's impact is directly proportionate to how creative and imaginative you are as a human being. If you're willing to just go through the motions and come under par as much as you possible can on each stage, you're missing the point.

Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story review for Joystiq

dphmarioandluigibis

My review for Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story went live on Joystiq this morning. Here's an excerpt:

Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story doesn't put on airs about itself. Up until now, the series has been a collection of chuckle-filled titles, with light action and RPG elements designed to make the game accessible to just about everyone -- and this latest game is no different. It's plain and direct in what it wants to be, but it's set apart from its predecessors in a deepening of the core aspects of the series.

Check it out here and if you're interested in reading any more of my reviews, check out my reviews page.

Video walkthrough of the new Nintendo Channel on Wii

Today, the Nintendo Channel on the Wii updated, adding a bunch of new features. I did a little walkthrough video (nothing special) for Joystiq and figured I should probably dump it over here, too. So, that's what I'm doing. What, you wanna fight about it?

Press copy of Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box comes with Diabolical Box

diabolicalboxpost081209
Nintendo sent out the press copies of Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box today and it really didn't take me that long to solve it. I'm not gloating, mind you, but I wanted to point out here (where nobody is going to read it) some of the others that have received this package and how they're handling it.

  • First up is my ordeal, here at Joystiq (link)
  • MTV Multiplayers' Russ Frushtick dished his off to his interns (link)
  • GameDaily also solved the riddle and rubbed it into Russ' face (link)
  • Go Nintendo promises a video later (link)

This is all I've seen so far, but I'll be on the lookout for more.
